About

Thanks for swinging by!

My name is Blaize Stewart and I am a Chicago-based columnist, essayist, and digital communications strategist. After completing my studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign – B.S. in Broadcast Journalism, M.S. in Journalism, and MEd in Educational Policy, Organization, and Leadership – Equity and Diversity in Education – I moved from my hometown of Jacksonville, IL, to pursue a career in writing and media.

I’ve worked extensively as a writer – predominantly contributing to LGBTQ+ outlets like bi.org and Queer Majority Magazine – and have been a part of numerous panels and sessions focused on the LGBTQ+ community in the media and workplace. Additionally, I have worked in numerous fields – including healthcare, higher education, and aerospace – as a social and digital media strategist, contributing copywriting, copyediting, graphic design, and campaign strategy expertise to numerous digital media initiatives.

While I am incredibly passionate and grateful for my career and the opportunities it offers, I have created this site to explore and share my passion for creative writing. From essays, short stories, poems, and everything in between, I plan to use this space to write freely – a luxury I have not allowed myself for many years as I built my professional portfolio. I look forward to pushing myself to new limits when it comes to my writing and welcome you to join me as I embark on this new, exciting journey.

All the best,
Blaize
